Storing Coffee at the Office – Rules for the Kitchen and Supply Closet

1 min read

Poorly stored coffee loses its flavor before anyone drinks it. A few rules keep your stock fresh.

Store office coffee somewhere dry, dark, and cool, in sealed packaging, away from the machine, radiators, and windows. Rotate stock on a first-in, first-out basis, and reseal the opened bag after every use.

Where to keep the stock

A closed cupboard or supply closet works best. Avoid spots above the dishwasher or next to the kettle, where there is steam and heat.

Rotation and labels

Put new deliveries behind older bags. Write the opening date on opened packs so everyone grabs the right one.

When storage stops being your problem

When a supplier restocks a coffee vending machine (publisher's site), the operator manages the stock and the office does not need to store it.

FAQ

Can coffee be kept in the freezer? Some people freeze sealed bags, but in an office it is simpler to order smaller amounts.

Who should look after the stock? One named person, so orders do not overlap.
